![]() So I decided to remove it and do as you suggested, to clean and then add it (version 4) afterwards. Man this is getting a bit annoying After I had updated all packages via NuGet it changed the MVC5 project' I've found that removing a reference, cleaning a project, and re-adding a reference helps ensure it uses a more current version. Have you checked to see if any of the projects is using MVC 4? Normally this means that one project uses version X, but another project or dependency uses version Y.Įven removing a reference and re-adding it doesn't always fix it. Reading some other issues similar to this I want to mention that I use Ninject, if that changes anything or could possibly have something to do with it. Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft ASP.NET\ASP.NET MVC 4\Assemblies\ I have three projects in my solution and they all have this in common for the reference: I've tried to tinker with the assembly dependencies in Web.config as well but had no luck. At one point VS came up with a dialog about reloading some files as they had been modified outside of the project and I think it could possibly have something to do with it but I can't remember what it I don't have the DLL to or the XML file in theīin folder of my project and I'm not sure why. Even though I am not deploying to a server (just running local) I tried to set the setting I've done quite some searching and found several similar topics here and on StackOverflow however I can't seem to understand these assembly configurations. The system cannot find the file specified. I receive the following error when I run my MVC 5 application: Could not load file or assembly ', Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35' or one of its dependencies.
